Do These Sonic Games REALLY Deserve their Reputation? | TNSS S6E2
Sonic Pocket Adventure and Sonic R got radically different critical reviews when they first came out, but I'm here to figure out if they each deserve their reputation.

Seeing a Sonic game on a "Neo Geo" Product Handheld Made by SNK was a pretty odd weird but unique choice,since SNK Were mostly known for they're Fighting Games and Arcade hits like King of Fighters,Samurai Shadown,Art of Fighting,Fatal Fury,Psycho Soilder,and the Metal Slug games. To be fair,this wasn't the first time,they attempted putting another well established Company IP on a Neo Geo/SNK Console/Handheld,they previously did this with "Neo Bomberman" on the Neo Geo CD,which that game was a Hudson Soft Licensed IP,but anyways,Sonic Pocket Adventure had some neat ideas which was one of my first Neo Geo Pocket games I've played on a NG Pocket Emulator (As well as the Neo Geo Pocket Port of Cotton Fantastic Night Dreams) which I appriciate them attempting to revive the 2D Sonic games at the time in the late 90s and early 2000s,but this game didn't quite hit the Mark as I expected,despite new ideas,this felt like a Rehash of the Genesis games,The Sonic Advance Trilogy did this better.
@StarBomberRevice2021 i have an explanation for the controls. Sonic R was going to be a racing game with cars before Travelers Tales turned it into a Sonic game at the request of Sega. Try holding the acceleration button and only turning the d-pad left or right. You can't control it like a 3D platformer despite it being a 3D Sonic game. you have to treat it like a racing game. It's weird like how Sonic Spinball has you control Sonic like both a platformer and pinball game at the same time. Neither game are anywhere near as bad or broken as Sonic 2006.
